Today the internet and cell phones have not only become an integral part of our very culture but also play an important role in our day to day activities. The B.Tech Information Technology Engineering program includes computer operations on different languages, platforms, data generation, networking, collection and utilization of information. The course imparts all the basics as well as latest knowledge pertaining to the rapidly developing field of computers. The course is designed to keep students at pace with the practical field. The main backbone of the course is educating knowledge of computer, it’s engineering which impart theory, principles, practice and know-importance of computing in the information age. This is required for the critical analysis, design, evolution and improvement of computing system in context of computers and industry services. It is our objective that student should be able to pursue advanced studies in computer engineering and information technology on a competitive universal basis. The effective use of IT is a major component of economic growth and innovation in other areas of society and the economy. IT is continuously evolving, discovering new horizons of opportunities every day.

The syllabus of the course is uniquely designed to prepare the students to take on appropriate professional positions upon graduation and to grow into leadership positions. In addition to the prescribed university syllabus, the following special initiatives have also been introduced by the department to prepare the graduates to meet the challenges of the dynamically changing IT industry.( What are they ?) The Department strives to produce eminent professional tuned to the real time working environment. To fulfill this objective, the software, hardware and add on courses are updated regularly. The Department of Information Technology is well equipped with state of the art laboratories. The software for handling the laboratories is properly licensed. Apart from these the members of the faculty, are a great blessing with their multi expertise in areas like Software engineering, Networks, Databases, Data Mining, Soft Computing and so on. Students are encouraged to participate in various activities like paper presentation, technical quiz, software debugging, sports, NSS and cultural activities. Students are motivated to undergo In-Plant Training every year. Industrial Visits are arranged to help them get Industry exposure. The curriculum of all courses are designed in such a way as to enable the students to carry out major and minor projects in leading industries/institutions, besides their regular classes and seminars. A good number of students from the department have been placed in reputed organizations like UST, TCS, IBS, HP, Texas Instruments, Motorola, Lucent, Wipro, HCL, Siemens, Oracle, Accenture, Aztec in challenging positions. The department strives hard to impart quality education and to keep the students on the competitive edge of the present-day technology.
We provide freedom to the students to choose project topics that are state-of-the-art as well as industry relevant. Depending on the project area chosen by the students, the department appoints a faculty member, who has experience in the area or related areas, as project supervisors. Students get the unique opportunity to communicate and interact with relevant industry professionals who will act as Project Mentors. Students benefit from a system of layered mentoring to tackle actual company challenges and accomplish deliverables that provide measurable value. The mentoring structure is multi-pronged, involving mentors and practitioners as well as faculty members and subject matter experts. Most of these projects involve both analytic and computational work. The students, with direction from their academic mentor, will learn about the problem, master the latest analytical and computational approaches and techniques to solve it, and develop report-writing and public-speaking skills to be able to make professional presentations about the progress and results of their work to a scientific audience
A personality development course is designed towards developing students into exceptional communicators, negotiators and eventually leaders. Irrespective of the industry chosen for work, the basic skills required to do the job in a professional environment stay the same, to learn, excel and hone communication and leadership skills.. The main goal of the personality development is to provide students with a cohesive and integrated Personality Development Program which Improves understanding of own personality, Personal Leadership, Time management, Stress Management, Interview Skills, goal Setting and Career Counseling.
The department organizes special interactive programmes for final year students to boost their confidence and competence in technical areas of Information Technology and to enable them to excel in responding to technical interview questions.
Keeping in view of the diverse background of the students, ‘Introduction to Problem Solving’ has been designed as a bridge course to lay strong foundation in problem solving. This course helps students to enhance their logical thinking. The goal of problem solving is to provide students with a mechanism for making good choices about how to respond to important life decisions, or act/react in various situations.
An exclusive aptitude training programme in C is conducted to prepare the students for placement as well as for other competitive examinations. Laboratories are kept open beyond the working hours for doing practice on basic languages.

Seminars and discussions with experts from industry as well as academics are organized regularly to provide a platform for students to keep abreast of latest developments.
To integrate continuous evaluation into the teaching-learning progress, Performance Enhancement Tests are conducted every Monday. The focus of PET is on 3 Ps-progress, process and product. Through this evaluation the teacher continuously monitors the progress of the students. The process of learning is also monitored and if needed, be altered. The quality of the product of the learning is also assessed.
