Energy Conservation Club
The aim of this club is to inculcate energy awareness among the students, faculty and the public. The hub of this club consists of the President, Vice president, Treasurer and student representatives from all semesters, coordinated by a faculty mentor to co-ordinate the activities of the club. The club associates with the “Energy Conservation Society” who is responsible for co-coordinating the Energy Conservation activities in Kerala. All the students are members of the society and AJCE is a nodal centre of Kottayam District.
Weekly activities of the clubs include seminar sessions by students members on topics related to new trends in the Energy sector. Eminent personalities from outside the institute and in-house, working in the field of Energy management take classes once in a month. In-house quiz competitions are conducted once in a semester. Leaflets are distributed in the college and in the nearby schools to disseminate knowledge regarding energy conservation. As a symbol of social commitment, the club conducts “Energy awareness” programs and Painting competitions in the nearby schools and colleges. It was awarded the “Best Club award” consecutively in the years 2009 and 2010.
E-learning Club
E-learning is technology enabled learning or using electronic media in the learning process. In the present educational scenario, both the learner and the facilitator are required to be aware of the new learning management systems. The E-learning club aims at the use of E-learning methods in the field of engineering education. The club started its activities in Sep 2007. The club has organized several programs as on date and has been working on various E-learning techniques which can be applied to engineering education.
System Modelling Club
The increasing complexity of products that process information and the pressure of the design to market chain are the main reasons for a change in the design process. This results in an emphasis of timely design validation of virtual prototypes instead of bread boarding. Thus arises the need of a system modeling club. The System Modeling club of EEE department focuses in making ingenious ideas a reality. The club’s main aim is to bring the innovative ideas of students to fruition. As a step in this direction, it has taken great efforts in moulding their creativity and imagination by organizing lectures, labs, awareness programs etc. Even schools have come under the ambit of the club which has taken keen interest in encouraging the children to come out with new ideas that can transform everyday life by conducting seminars, holding campaigns and lecture-demonstration sessions in the schools itself.
Some of the main projects under taken by the student’s are;
- Pedal Power Inverter
- Temple Security System
- Power Guard System
Gyan Darshan
Gyan Darshan club aims to provide an insight into the new technologies which are dominant in the engineering arena. With a strong focus on Electrical and Electronics Engineering, it serves as a platform for the students to discuss new trends, and apply the same to develop new products of industrial significance and research. The club provides a platform for the students of different semesters to work under a single umbrella. Every week, members present “the technology of the week”, followed by a discussion. The faculty mentors of the club conduct weekly seminars on various technical issues, importance of research in engineering sectors, technical writing, career orientation etc. This is interspersed with occasional technical and interactive sessions. The concluding parts of the sessions are used to discuss and organize the forthcoming activities. Some sessions are handled by eminent faculty members from the various departments of AJCE. Debates and quiz competitions are organized on alternate weeks. An intra college project competition is scheduled once a year. Once in every semester, an expert conducts a session on a current topical area of interest. The club activities are coordinated by a student team consisting of the President, Vice president, General Secretary, Treasurer and representatives from different semesters.
