The Central Library

The Central Library of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally was set up in 2001 to support the educational mission of the College and fulfill the information needs of diverse user communities . In accordance with the objective of the College, the library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for researchers, the faculty and the student community.
The Central Library is located in the Knowledge Centre of the College and is spread over three floors of 30000 sq ft area. It has a separate reference section ,reading room, periodical section, stack area and PG library. There is an information desk (Counter) on the ground floor.
The Central Library has a rich collection of latest materials like books (32000 volumes), print (160) and online journals, standards, seminar and conference proceedings and CD-ROMs. It has a special collection of rare books of engineering and basic sciences .The Central Library is complement with different department libraries which contain the core collection required by the concerned department.
Indian National Digital Library in Engineering Science and Technology (INDEST)
Central Library is a member of INDEST-AICTE consortium and subscribes the e-resources of ASME, ASCE, Springer, IEEE , Science Direct, ASTM Digital Library and J-Gate for various branches of engineering.
National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL)
3486 video lectures of core branches of engineering and basic sciences are available in the intranet. To access the video lectures you can use the link – http://192.168.0.55:8080/dspace/handle/123456789/1
DSpace@AJCE
DSpace is used as the institutional digital repository. It consists of a good collection of conference proceedings, seminar/project reports, previous year’s university question papers and other reference material use the link – http://192.168.0.55:8080/dspace
Library Automation
The Central Library has been automated with Santhom Library software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system. Santhom consists of 5 modules, namely (i) acquisition, (ii) circulation, (iii) serials control and (iv) OPAC. Bar code technology is used for issue, return, stock maintenance etc. The database of books available in the library is being updated on day-to-day basis with details of the acquired books. OPAC is connected to LAN which enables users to access databases of library resources from anywhere on the campus. Open the Browser and type URL http://192.168.0.53 for accessing the library OPAC
Borrowing Facility
Members of the Library are eligible to borrow books. The borrowing privileges for different categories of members, number of books and period of time are as follows:
