AICERA 2023: International Conference on Intelligent Systems (ICIS)
The Annual International Conference on Emerging Research Areas: International Conference on Intelligent Systems (AICERA: ICIS 2023) is organized by Amal Jyothi College of Engineering. The conference is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Kerala Chapter. Theme of the Conference is mainly focusing on Design, Implementation and Deployment of intelligent systems in various domains notably information technology, computer science, electrical and electronics engineering. The conference aims to Integrate the application of the intelligent system in different sectors of science, engineering and technology and will be held on 16-18 November 2023 at Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, Kanjirapally, Kerala, India.
ICIS 2023 aims to integrate the application of the intelligent system in different sectors of science, engineering, and technology. The intelligent system is the heart of automation and it paves an efficient outcome in terms of precision and less computation time. This conference forum provides an opportunity for scientists from around the world to share their ideas and achievements in the theory and practice of intelligent control, artificial intelligence, neural networks, knowledge discovery, decision support systems, soft computing, data mining, ontologies, machine learning, intelligent measurement, pattern recognition, computer vision, AI-powered robotics systems, and other related fields.

International Conference on “Advanced Computing and Communication ( ICACC-2010)
- For the first time in the history of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering, an International Conference on “Advanced Computing and Communication” was held on 3rd – 4th May, 2010. More than 70 delegates from various parts of India and abroad attended the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Mathew J Palakal, Dean, Indiana Purdue University, USA, in the presence of Rev. Fr. Jose Kannampuzha , Principal and other distinguished dignitaries . Other keynote speakers for the conference included Dr. Prahlad Vadekkepatt from National University of Singapure and Fr. Biju John from Kingston University, London. A total of 68 manuscripts out of 567 were shortlisted for the conference. Paper presentations in both computing as well as communication tracks, were held concurrently with healthy and lively participation from delegates.

AICTE sponsored FDP on Best Practices in Software Project Management
- The Department of Information Technology has organized an AICTE sponsored Staff Development Programme on “Best Practices in Software Project Management” from May 11 to May 20, 2009 to equip the faculty members with latest tools and techniques being used in the software industry. Experts from industries and academics like Prof Ranjit Abraham, COO, Armia Systems, Mr. Jolly Joseph, Director – Learning Services, Faith Infotech, Mr Boby Varghese, Software Consultant , SEmentor, Mr K S Mathew , Associate Professor , Rajagiri School of Technology, Mr Binoy V C ,Partner Technology Manager ,Microsoft Corporation Pvt Ltd., Sunil Athayil, Senior Delivery Manager , UST Global, Mr Shiju George, Asst Professor, Department of IT and Rev. Fr. Biju John, Vice Principal, St. Antony’s Junior College, Kanjirappaly handled the classes . Faculty members from 10 Engineering colleges in South India participated in the course.
Outreach Programmes
- On International Women’s Day on March 08, 2013, the students of IT along with “Magni Tab” conducted a street play ‘Inspiring Change’ in Kanjirappally bus stand. The play called for a social awakening to prevent violence against women. Mr. Shiju George, Assistant Professor has taken a session titled “Motivation on Entrepreneurship” on 1st March 2014 for the’ Entrepreneurship Development Program’ held at Bishop Jerome Institute, Kollam. A Career guidance programme “Career and Opportunities in IT” was conducted for Plus II students of St.Mary’s HSS, Vellaramkunnu , Kumily on 20th March 2014. Prof. Sandhya Ramakrishnan, Ms.Midhuna Jyothi R,Mr. Raveendrakumar K.V and Mr. Aneesh M were the resource persons.
- Shiju George, Assistant Professor took career guidance class organized by YUVADEEPTHI at Kanjirapally Diocese on 9th May 2014 .
- The Society Interaction Cell has conducted a one day workshop on “Basics of Computing “ on 23 Jan, 2009 for the B.Com students of St. Dominic’s College , Kanjirappally with the support of Prof Joy Cyriac.
- Two week vacation class on “Introduction to programming languages C and C++” has been conducted for 10th,11th , 12th students from 17th April – 6th May,2009 ,coordinated by Mr. Thomas Varghese, Asst Professor

Android Application and Development
- The Department of Information Technology in association with Magnificata Hybrid Gadgets(MHG), ISEEC London and GCN Technology, Canada, organized a workshop on ‘Android Application and Development” from April 3-5, 2014. Prof. S J Rajan, HOD of Computer Science Dept. in St.Joseph College, Trichy, handled the session.

- The Department of Information Technology conducted Pilot Workshop and Online Assessment for BASH(Shell Programming) as part of Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay coordinated by Mr Joms Antony, AP/IT

- IBM Training on Rational Functional Tester & Quality Manager was conducted from 30th December 2013 to 2nd January 2014 by IBM Partner, SmartSoft

- The Department of Information Technology has organized a Workshop on “Leveraging the Internet” for the staff members of Amal Jyothi College of Engineering. The workshop was led by Prof Ranjit Abraham.
Emerging Trends and Innovation in IT Curriculum
- The Department of Information Technology has conducted a Workshop on “Emerging Trends and Innovation In IT Curriculum” from Dec 3 to Dec 6 2008 , coordinated by Mr Shiju George.This Workshop facilitated around 30 faculty members of different colleges in Kerala to acquire current trends in IT curriculum through existent and comprehensive exposure. Experts are called from various IT sector to scrutinize the current trends followed and to enrich the course with industry practices in implementing the heading technology. The content is designed for the augmentation of educational perspective and for the growth of academic fortune. The technical session is shaped in a way to divulge advancement in IT .The main focus is to deliver current facets, significance & dimensions of various subjects in the curriculum.

Work Strategies for the 21st Century Workplace
- Mr. Satheeshkumar Menon, General Manager, ESRI Inc., Dubai delivered the talk, “Work Strategies for the 21st century Workplace” on 13th Feb, 2010. The lecture was attended by 8th semester students of IT, CSE & ECE. Mr. Menon explained the differences in perception, culture and attitude when a student moves from an educational institution to an industrial environment. His talk highlighted various tips as well as effective methods for an industry joining fresher to achieve a successful career in industry.

At the Crossroads of Information Technology- Bioinformatics
- Dr. Adarsh Ramakumar, Principal Investigator & Senior Bioinformatics Analyst, Armed Forces, Radio Biology Research Institute, Department of Defense, United States of America, delivered a talk on the topic “At the crossroads of Information Technology- Bioinformatics”. His talk, attended by faculties from IT, CSE & ECE, was very informative and motivating. He explained the breadth and depth of the relevance of bioinformatics research in the 21st century & cajoled our faculty to actively involve themselves in research areas that target applications to real life.
