Digital India, a flagship programme of the Government of India, aims to “transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”. This programme centres on three key vision areas of “Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen”, “Governance and Services on Demand” and “Digital Empowerment of Citizens”. In this context various programmes are organised by the department to empower the academic community during the Digital India Week.
The vision of Digital India week at IT Department aims at inclusive growth in areas of electronic services, products, manufacturing and job opportunities etc. The vision of Digital India is centred on three key areas – Digital Infrastructure as a Utility to students, Governance & Services on Demand and Digital Empowerment of society.
Events conducted
The Dept. of Information Technology organized a Digital India Week event on 8/7/2015.
The event was a Discussion forum regarding Spoken Tutorial Project- NMEICT, IIT Bombay which has recently received a Google MOOC Focused Research Award. The role of Spoken Tutorial Project in Engineering Education in the Country was the topic of discussion. Joms Antony, Asst Professor, Dept. of Information Technology who is also serving as an External Contributor to Spoken Tutorial Project, IIT Bombay, led the discussion forum.
The forum addressed the following topics- Spoken Tutorial Self - Learning Methodology
- How to organize Workshops/Add on Programs
- How to Contribute Original Tutorials Dubbing Tutorials in native languages
- Benefits for students and faculty members
Spoken Tutorial Workshops for Students were also conducted as part of this event.
